like the new version except for the ability to block people. once you block someone all the old responses from that person are still in your exchange list. i liked it the old way. also, i am unable to report a person. so i'm not even sure the app is working correctly.

Some bugs crept into PT v2.0 that were annoying enough to pull the app down for.

I've since fixed these and v2.0.1 is now available on the App Store. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Why is the photo trader app gone from the app store? I paid $4.99 for it, had to delete it for a bit then when I went to install it again, it is gone. WTF

Please make available the ability to use the photos that have been saved to one's albums/library. It's not possible to take spontaneous photos throughout the day, spec if at work.

I strongly encourage the devs to consider allowing people to use photos that are in their albums/library. One can't always just spontaneously take photos during the day,i.e. while at work, etc.

I, too, have issues with some of Apple’s policies with regard to the App Store (and wish that they’d allow independent distribution via any means someone wishes) – not that I see them changing any time soon, alas.

But that is comparing apples and oranges, I think. People read reviews expecting a 100% honest impression of a product – untainted by back-room deals. Pay-to-play “reviews” call that into question. These reviewers are calling into question the very integrity that their reviews are based on.

With Apple, they make no attempt to hide the fact that they are attempting to sell a set of products within their own ecosystem, as much as possible. Their role as a vendor is pretty clear-cut, and everyone knows what the relationship is between them, consumers and developers alike. As a developer (like myself), at least you know what limitations you’re buying into.

Isn't Apple's iPhone platform the ultimate pay-to-play? You have to pay a decent fee just to be allowed to write a program for the iPhone, and then you can't guess if they're going to "accept" it (i.e., let you distribute it to anyone else) when you finish.

And Apple is actually able to get away with it, publicly, in large part due to the hyper-competitive nature of the App Store.

I encourage fellow developers to publicly pledge their intent to not support these platforms by succumbing to their pay-to-dev schemes. The sooner that well of income dries up, the sooner Apple might move on to more developer-friendly practices.

I'm willing to make that pledge. Fellow developers, if you feel the same, please feel free to post a comment to that effect to this post (and on your web site/blog!).
